Cuba has two currencies circulating simultaneously, The Cuban National Peso (CUP) and the Cuban Convertible Peso (CUC). All but all the tourist services have to be paid only with the Peso Convertible (CUC)

The Cuban Peso (CUP) is the national currency and it is used by the local population to pay products or services generally subsidized by the government.

The Peso Convertible (CUC) is the currency that can be exchanged to several international currencies, and it is used to pay all the tourist products and services, like taxis, tourist buses, restaurants, hotels, international calls, airport tax, shops and cafeterias.

The exchange rate between Cuban Pesos (CUP) and Pesos Convertibles (CUC) is around 24 CUP for 1 CUC.
